Following works about Tupac Shakur, Bill Cosby and many other aspects of Hip Hop culture, Dyson is up to the task of turning the classic into a book.
"Every song on Illmatic will be analyzed, interpreted and then re-articulated in a kind of intellectual sense from his own base in Hip Hop and we’re trying to deal with that seriously," Dyson said.
Illmatic dropped in 1994, received critical acclaim and has gone on to be what some consider, one of the best Hip Hop albums to date.
According to Amazon, Dyson's book, formerly titled Born To Use Mics: Reading Nas' Illmatic, is planned for January 2009 publication on Basic Civitas Books.
