Foxy's Lawyer Drops Case After His Wife Is Threatened
An attorney representing Foxy Brown has asked to be excused from the case on Tuesday (October 16) after his wife was threatened by a mysterious man.
According to the New York Daily News, attorney Alan Stutman says his wife was approached by a man last Friday night (October 12) in the lobby of their Brooklyn building. After getting out of a silver car, the man approached Stutman’s wife and said, “How can a beautiful woman like you be beaten up?,” before fleeing the area.
Stutman had been representing Foxy on charges of assault, attempted assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon stemming from her alleged attack of a neighbor with her Blackberry cell phone.
On Tuesday, the Brooklyn rapper, who is currently incarcerated for one year on a probation violation, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

At the pre-media release screening of the new film "Tupac: Assassination - Conspiracy or Revenge?" last Thursday, former Death Row bodyguard Kevin Hackie said he was undercover for the FBI during his time at the label from 1992 - 1996.
Hackie, who also said that "An arrest will be made in this (2Pac) case," made his comments to an already anxious and restless crowd of close to one hundred people who peppered the panel with questions. Hackie joined the film makers, R. J. Bond and ex Tupac bodyguard Frank "Big Frank" Alexander on the panel for the Q & A after taking issue with an LAPD detective who was in the audience defending the department's handling of the case, which had serious L.A. implications even though Tupac was killed in Las Vegas.
The new DVD Tupac Assassination lays out the entire murder conspiracy plot surrounding the murder of the best selling Hip Hop artist of all time. This eye-opening documentary points out all of the failures of law enforcement officials to fully investigate, follow up on leads and interview key parties involved in this tragic event. Now that the DVD will be available, the smoke and confusion caused by unsubstantiated rumors, myopic myths and urban legends will dissipate and a clear picture will appear from the confusion.
Def Jam Denies Nas' Claims That His Album Will Be Titled Nigga

Island Def Jam denied claims made by Nas recently that his next album was to be controversially titled Nigga on Tuesday (October 16), and that's not all.
The label also said that the rapper would not be releasing an album in December, despite what the rapper told a New York audience on Friday (October 12).
"There is no album release by Nas on the release schedule at this point," a source close to Island Def Jam Music Group chairman, Antonio "L.A." Reid, told FOXNews.com. "And they would be unlikely to release an album with that title. How would that look at Wal-Mart?"
According to the news channel, the rapper performed at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City on Friday, where he is made the comments in question: an album by the title Nigga was dropping in December.
Sorry Nas, looks like it's not happening.
Not only did Def Jam not support Nas' claims, but others within the black community aren't as well.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson wasn't supportive, calling the proposed title "morally offensive" and "socially distasteful."
"The title using the 'N' word is morally offensive and socially distasteful," Jackson said in a statement to FoxNews.com. "Nas has the right to degrade and denigrate in the name of free speech, but there is no honor in it.
"Radio and television stations have no obligation to play it and self-respecting people have no obligation to buy it. I wish he would use his talents to lift up and inspire, not degrade, making mockery of racism," he continued.
Diddy Makes Nice W/ Assault Victim, Lawyer Says Puff Will Not Be Arrested Today

It appears that Sean "Diddy" Combs and alleged beating victim Steven Acevedo have made amends since their highly publicized scuffle over the weekend.
As previously reported, Combs allegedly pounded Acevedo outside SoHo night spot Kiosk Saturday morning (October 13) after the two had a heated argument about one of Diddy's old girlfriends.
But, according to TMZ, Puff and Acevedo - who apparently have been friends for over 13 years - shared a table at popular New York hotspot Butter last night (October 15) and reportedly came to an agreement. As the two exited minutes apart, neither would speak to cameras about what they'd discussed.
Diddy was expected to turn himself in to authorities today and face the music, but his attorney Benjamin Brafman confirmed that's not going to happen.
"[Diddy] is not going to be arrested today," he said in a statement. "We are hopeful that this matter will be resolved without the filing of any criminal charges as this was a disagreement among acquaintances, not a criminal assault."
Re-Trial of C-Murder Set For February

C-Murder will stand trial for a second time in February on a second-degree murder charge. A New Orleans judge made the ruling yesterday (Oct. 16).
Judge Martha Sassone announced the trial date as February 11. The charge stems from an incident in Jan. 2002 where Miller is accused of shooting and killing Steve Thomas at Harvey nightclub.
Corer "C-Murder" Miller was originally sentenced to life in prison for the crime in Sept. 2003. An appeal for the rapper was successful and his conviction was overturned in March 2004. It was later in 2004 that Judge Martha Sassone ordered a new trial date for the rapper which was decided on yesterday.
If convicted of the crime, Miller faces a mandatory life sentence.
Trina Addresses Missy Elliott Rumors

In an industry where many of the women rocking the mic have also been seen rocking handcuffs and alcohol detection anklets, Trina has done her best to remain drama free. Slip-N-Slide's Diamond Princess drops jewels about music industry catfights, why female rappers need to band together, and those old romance rumors about her and Missy Elliott.
Troubled by hip-hop's current state, Trina is speaking out about the need for unity among women in rap.
"With Foxy going through what she's going through; Remy going through what she's going through; the situation that happened with Kim; we are so out of ourselves," Trina said "I love Kim, I love Eve and Missy and Brat...We don't get enough credit as we deserve as girls, with so many guys [in this business]. There's not that many girls, and the girls that are in hip-hop don't stick together.
"Put your egos to the side, put all that other foolishness to the side, let's join forces and make great records," she continued. "Let's get on a tour. There are so many tours that go out that are all guys, it's never girls... It could be huge, but nobody takes the chance of putting that foot forward to make it happen."
Fortunately, Trina says her friend and recent VH1 Hip-Hop Honoree Missy Elliott, is working on changing that.
"I spoke with Missy, she is trying to get all the women and girls and do this one big huge record," Trina revealed. "I thought it was a great idea. I don't know if we will be able to make it happen, but it would be a big deal for the women in hip-hop. If not, everybody is all over the place, we don't even have a category at Awards anymore, that's not cool."
Trina also spoke on another "not cool" subject - the old rumors that she and Missy were "more than friends."
"At first I was bothered," Trina admitted. "Missy is a mentor to me, I came into this game and I looked up to her. To have somebody embrace me like that and say you should do this kind of record, this kind of show, I appreciated her as my friend, her being there to give support because everybody doesn't do that.
"When I heard the rumors that we were more than friends, at first I was like 'that's the ignorant minds of some people,'" she added. "But people are going to say whatever, regardless. She is just my friend, that's it. It's never been a more than just friends."
In the end, Trina says she's learned rumors and speculation are just the cost of working in entertainment.
"In this industry if you are seen standing next to somebody or taking a picture you are sleeping with them," she said. "Why can't it just be we are just friends or I just met this person? It's unfair, but it's the business, that's what people feed off."
"Sometimes people don't realize that artists are still human," Trina explained. "It's been times I've been on my tour bus on the road traveling and crying because I've heard something that's not true and I'm upset, but what can you do? Almost nothing. I've learned to just deal with it. I'm able to keep my integrity, keep calm and keep cool. This is entertainment, if I wasn't an entertainer then people wouldn't care, but because I am, they care. Let them keep talking, when they stop talking about me, I'm not working.
Trina's new songs "Single Again" and "I Got a Bottle" ft. Missy Elliott are out now. Her next album Da Baddest Chick Reloaded is scheduled to drop in February 2008.
JOHN LEGEND TO LAUNCH HIS OWN LABEL

R&B singer John Legend is about to jump into the business side of the music industry with the launch of his own label through Atlantic Records.
Titled HomeSchool, the imprint's first artist will be British singer/rapper/songwriter/producer Estelle, a West London native who has drawn comparisons to Lauryn Hill, according to Billboard.com.
Estelle's debut album, titled "Shine," is due for release on Feb. 12 with Legend as its executive producer. Producers on the project include Wyclef Jean, will.i.am, Swizz Beatz and Mark Ronson as well as Legend, who also has a cameo in the "Wait" video..
The first single will be the track "Wait a Minute (Just a Touch)," while Kanye West makes a guest appearance on "American Boy." Cee-Lo is also featured on one of the tracks.
Asked about other artists on the HomeSchool roster, Legend tells Billboard.com that no one else is signed yet and the label is non-exclusive. "This isn't a blanket imprint. There will be some artists a label partner may like and some they don't. I'm doing this one at a time."
As for his own next album, Legend says he has three songs in the can (one of which features will.i.am) for an expected release date of summer 2008. In the meantime, he's just returned from Zanzibar and Tanzania where he shot the video for his latest single, "Show Me."
