The murder case of former No Limit rapper C-Murder took another unexpected turn this week as a jailed friend of the rapper has come forward claiming that he was the one who killed the teenager that C- Murder is accused of shooting.
C- Murder, born Corey Miller, is accused of shooting and killing 16-year-old Steve Thomas at a defunct New Orleans nightclub in 2002. His retrial on the murder charge begins next month and he faces life in prison if convicted.
According to The Times Picayune, C- Murder's lawyer Ron Rakosky claims that the rapper's friend Juan Flowers has stated under oath that he is the one who shot and killed Thomas.
Flowers is currently serving a life sentence in Georgia for a 2007 murder. Rakosky wants Flowers transported to New Orleans to testify in C- Murder's upcoming trial.
Prosecutors, however, claim that Flowers denied being involved in the killing when questioned by authorities in 2003.
C- Murder is currently behind bars after pleading no contest to two counts of attempted second degree murder in May.
The rapper was accused of trying to shoot the owner of a nightclub and a bouncer in August 2001.
He was slapped with a 10 year sentence but he will be given credit for time already served including a period of home incarceration.
